And, 2 things you can do about it today.
Often, we experience the kind of stress that tightens our jaw and our shoulders. But, did you know this very same stress can put too much pressure and or tightness into your Pelvic Floor?
Hi, I am Donna Brooks, and I am a Master Somatic Movement therapist with a specialty in the Pelvic Floor. For many years, I have seen the correlation between physical or emotional tension and bad pelvic floor outcomes. Below, I will give you 3 quick tips to help you melt away tension that is making your problem worse!
Release the jaw stress that makes your pelvic floor problem worse.
Can you open and close your jaw easily with few clicks and no pain? If not, chances are the tightness in your jaw is inhibiting the healing of your pelvic floor.
Try this: Tighten your jaw up as hard as you can. And, pay attention to your Pelvic Floor. Can you feel that grip as well? If so, you have direct communication between your jaw and your pelvis. Relasing jaw tension full takes time but one simple tip will help you let it go;
Tip 1: Open and close your mouth softly. As you do it, think of your chin making an arch rather than a hinging movement. Think of it as your chin making. a gentle semicircle down to your throat and back. Don’t force.
Now, can you open from your upper Jaw? The video below will help. Over time, the jaw stress will dissipate. And, your pelvic floor will relax
A stressed jaw will hurt your pelvic floor.
Release the shoulder stress that makes your Pelvic Floor problem worse!
You can use your imagination to feel an openness underneath your armpits that releases the stubborn tension that pulls your shoulders up to your ears!
Tip 2: Notice how close your shoulders seem to your ears. Feel the level of tension you experience. Notice what you can feel in your pelvic floor
Now, imagine tennis balls underneath your armpits. Start to move your shoulders and arms freely around these imaginary balls. It might feel a bit like swimming. Remove the balls and see how your shoulders and pelvic floor feel now
Stress makes your pelvic floor problems worse because stress inhibits your inner jellyfish!

Your pelvic floor is a bit like a bobbing jellyfish. It is supposed to be bouncy and changeable. Your pelvic floor is resilient and adaptable. It is the seat of your power. But stress gets in its way!
