Meet your breathing coach: Donna Brooks

Hi, I’m Donna—a somatic movement therapist, yoga expert, and embodied meditation teacher with 40 years’ experience helping people heal through movement.

Twenty years ago, Lyme disease left me too weak to use the many breathing techniques I had learned over the years.

Fortunately, I discovered a game-changer: how to develop a "proper" health-giving unconscious breath, that inspires health with every breath, beyond breathing techniques.

With this "proper" unconscious breath as my new baseline, my energy returned, and over time my debilitating symptoms lessened and then disappeared.

I had discovered an incredible breathwork practice that optimizes human function and I knew intuitively that we all have this natural power within us. My passion motivated me to go deep, studying respiration, breathing techniques and human anatomy, to really understand the conflicting ideas and practices, and why changing the way you breathe is so powerful.

Since then, I have shared this breathwork exploration successfully with hundreds of clients, and now I am here to share it with you—using somatic wisdom and practical movements to thrive.

My breath coaching approach

There’s a calmer, more grounded way to breathe—and it starts by reconnecting with the rhythm of your own body. It is a foundational rythym rather than a breathing technique. In my personalized breath coaching sessions, we’ll gently awaken your natural breathing patterns, allowing them to become fuller, deeper, more calming and energizing.

Using a blend of gentle movement, sound, experiential anatomy, and individualized coaching, we’ll explore what limits you have to optimal breathing and help you reclaim your abilities for long term change.
